Touqeer Butt, an alumnus of the KM Music conservatory of the AR Rehman foundation, had been surrounded by music in some shape or form his entire life. A British Asian artist that takes a storytelling approach to his music, Touqeer has worked as a radio presenter and producer and now makes the foray towards creating music himself.

Touqeer has a powerful vocal presence which is all the more emphasized by the delicate manner in which he wields it. Taking inspiration from Qawwali and Sufi music, his approach takes all the passion of those genres to present it in a softer, more intimate way.

Touqeer’s music reads like poetry as the notes rise up to meet it. Being a British Asian artist has allowed Touqeer to make the most of a blend of culture and inject them into his music.This is also perhaps what gives his music such a sense of familiarity, as he borrows elements of romanticism from diverse sources and creates a sound that is entirely unique yet immediately familiar.

Touqeer has debuted his single Ek hi to Dil with Zee Music Company India and is signed with the media giant as well. He has worked within music industry for a very long time which is why it is such an achievement for him to have gained the respect and critical acclaim of his peers. Touqeer’s work has been received rather well not only among audiences but also other local British Asian musicians.
